As always, thank you Every Inchie Monday for the inspiration to create.
I created a simple space to post artwork. I have some ideas of art I'd like to make and my excuse for dreaming it, but not creating it is no time. So, I've discovered a little world of micro-art on the net and I think I'm going to try it out... this is where I can post it to share with others... here goes!

C is for Cathedral Inchie
So, this was hard! But after consideration and since I just finished reading the Tiffany Glass Co story, I decided a stained glass window would be my cathedral concept. I had it in my head to do a glass painting to mimic an actual stained glass window. I used to do a lot of glass painting a million years ago... or well, 30 years ago. Then I realized that would cost a lot for the supplies for one single inch, so I decided to do a drawing as my "sample" and then decide how I wanted to proceed. Well, once I finished my sample, I decided it would work just as is! I drew it, inked it with highlighters and sharpies, then covered the whole thing with nail polish to make it shiny. The picture doesn't really show the shine, but I'm happy with this result and I'm loving that every inchie I've done so far has been totally different than any of the others. Don't know how long I can keep that up... we'll see!

ReplyDeletewell, there is a little bleeding on the black lines, but it wasn't bad enough to start over! =)
DeleteLovely inchie, and a great idea, love the bird and the colours.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous stained glass for your cathedral inchie - I love it :-)

Thanks, ladies! Isn't this fun!?!
ReplyDeleteHow clever to use nail polish for the shine. I'd never heard of that. I must try it though. I love your stained glass!
ReplyDeleteIN creating my inchies, I find myself looking around and using what's close! It does make for interesting medium!
DeleteYour inchie is a perfect stained glass window in miniature. Superb!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I'm liking it, too! =)
DeleteIt's brilliant. It looks like real glass. I love it.
ReplyDeleteDon't matter if your inchies are all different. After putting them together you will have a nice mosaic.
Thank you! In real life, it surprisingly DOES look like glass. People are surprised when they touch it and realize it's just paper!
DeleteOh yes! that's perfect Jenn! I love the addition of the dove xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I thought the dove gave it an element of Christian iconography so that the stained glass wasn't just any window, but one that could be from a cathedral =)
DeleteI love that your inchies are different. That is awesome. Also as freebird, my insignia used to be a bird similar to your inchie so I love this one so much. Great job!
ReplyDeleteFirst time drawing a bird! hehe Glad you liked it. THANK YOU!
